  • COMMERCIAL LIVESTOCK DEPARTMENT

    1. All animals must be owned by exhibitor or farm they represent.

    2. Animals must be 3/4 percentage or more to enter a breed class. If not the animals will register as a crossbreed.

    3. 4-H and FFA Beef Heifers will be allowed to show in their competitive class.

    4. All cattle must be shown in the show ring to be eligible for prize money and herdsman award.
      - Bulls may be an exception; the beef committee will decide.

    5. All animals will be shown dry, not fitted; they may be washed, clipped and combed.

    6. There will be no parking beside the barn.

    7. There must be competition in each class to receive 1st place prize money.

    All commercial livestock must be in the barn by 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and registered with Barn Chairperson.

Section 3: SWINE

  • 1. Hogs that will be shown for 4-H/FFA are not allowed in commercial classes.

    2. All animals must be shown in the ring.

    3. All hogs must be washed and tag cleaned.

    4. Hogs must be tended and kept clean while they are on exhibit.

    5. There must be competition in any class to be eligible for 1st place prize money in that class.

    6. Market hogs will be divided according to weight; Classes will be determined after weigh-in.

    7. Commercial weigh-in will follow 4-H hog weigh-in for one hour only; If animal is not weighed in at this time, it will not be allowed to show.

    8. Show will be Fair Tuesday, following the 4-H/FFA Hog Show.

    All commercial livestock must be in the barn by 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and registered with Barn Chairperson.

Section 4: Sheep

  • 1. All sheep must be sheared within four weeks of the fair.

    2. All animals must be shown in the ring.

    3. All sheep must be washed and tag cleaned.

    4. Market lambs can be ewes or weathers.

    5. Lambs may compete in lamb classes as long as they show their lamb’s teeth.

    6. Sheep must be tended and kept clean while they are on exhibit.

    7. There must be competition in any class to be eligible for 1st place prize money in that class.

    8. Pre-registration by August 10 will guarantee stall space.

    9. Market lambs will be divided according to weight; classes will be determined after weigh-in.

    10. Commercial weigh-in for market will follow 4-H weigh-in for one hour only. If animal is not weighed-in at this time, it will not be allowed to show.

    11. Market lambs and ewes tagged for 4-H are not allowed in commercial classes.

    12. Show will be Fair Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Substitutes may show for exhibitors.

    All commercial livestock must be in the barn by 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and registered with Barn Chairperson.

Section 5: Goat

  • 1. The purpose of this show is to showcase commercial breeding stock.

    2. Market does and wethers in the 4-H show are not permitted in the commercial show.

    3. Goats must be comply with the National Scrapie Eradication Program.

    4. Goats must be clean and tagged for identification.

    5. Goats must be tended and kept clean while they are on exhibit.

    6. The Chair may cancel or adjust classes based on the number of entries.

    7. There must be competition in any class to be eligible for 1st place prize money.

    8. All animals must be shown in the ring.

    9. The show will be Fair Wednesday, directly after the Commercial Sheep Show.

    10. Goats must be pre-registered with Stephanie Breeden at (540) 742-8183 by August 1 to guarantee stall space.

    All commercial livestock must be in the barn by 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and registered with Barn Chairperson.
